On the morning of July 17, 2026, at the Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy, the City Digital Transformation Center participated in a specialized training session on "Digital Transformation in the Leadership, Administration, and Governance of Commune-Level Farmers' Unions."
Organized by the Standing Committee of the HCMC Farmers' Union in collaboration with the City Cadre Academy, the training session attracted 185 attendees, including municipal Farmers' Union officials and members, as well as Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons of Farmers' Unions from communes, wards, and special zones. This practical initiative aims to equip attendees with a modern governance mindset and enhance their capacity to apply digital technologyies within the organization, meeting the demands for digital transformation in the new era.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the City Digital Transformation Center, presented an overview of digital transformation in Farmers' Union governance and the strategic directions for digital agriculture development in HCMC. Digital transformation is not merely the integration of technology into daily tasks; it is a comprehensive innovation of governance methodologies that is data-driven, citizen-centric, and focused on service efficiency.
Regarding governance, Dr. Nguyen introduced several digital models and solutions currently being deployed, such as a centralized member management system, the Farmers' Support Fund management software (Core Finance), the Digital Farmers' Hub model, the application of QR codes in surveys and member polling, and enhanced interaction across digital platforms. These solutions facilitate the transition from paper-based administration to data-driven governance, improving transparency, operational efficiency, and connectivity across all union levels.
A topic of particular interest to the attendees was the "Digital Literacy Movement" (Bình dân học vụ số) initiative. With a "hands-on guidance" approach, it empowers Union officials to become the core force supporting farmers in accessing technology, utilizing digital services, engaging in e-commerce, adopting cashless payments, and gradually building digital skills for production and business operations.

Beyond governance, the session broadened the perspective on the development trends of smart agriculture and the digital agricultural economy in the new context. Attendees were introduced to advanced technologies that are revolutionizing agricultural production methods, including Generative AI, Agentic AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins, Drones, and Autonomous Robots, alongside Blockchain solutions for traceability. These technologies contribute to optimizing production, conserving resources, reducing emissions, and enhancing the value of agricultural products.
Notably, the session emphasized the goals of developing green agriculture, a circular economy, and achieving Net Zero. In this new context, digital transformation is viewed as a critical driver for restructuring the agricultural value chain, enhancing competitiveness, and ensuring sustainable development. The role of grassroots Farmers' Union officials extends beyond administration; they are pioneers who inspire, guide, and accompany members on their digital transformation journey.
Concluding the session, Dr. Nguyen delivered a core message: "Digital transformation is a comprehensive restructuring of the value chain, creating more efficient and sustainable governance and production models."
Equipped with the knowledge and experience shared during the training, the 185 Farmers' Union officials will continue to act as catalysts, spreading the dynamics of digital transformation to every grassroots unit, thereby contributing to the development of a modern, green, smart, and sustainable agricultural sector in HCMC.
